The Original Canadian Cheeseburger

1 pound lean ground beef
1 egg
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
4 ounces sliced Canadian cheddar or Canadian oka cheese
Grilled baguette slices
Carmelized Onions:
1 large red onion, cut into thin wedges
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon sugar

Preparation Instructions:
Combine beef, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce and garlic. Season with salt and pepper. shape mixture into 4 slightly elongated patties. Barbecue until well cooked.

Top with Canadian cheddar or Canadian Oka cheese. Cook until cheese melts thoroughly. Serve on baguette with Carmelized Onions. 4 servings.

Carmelized Onions: Cook and stir onion in butter until tender, about 10 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low. Sprinkle with sugar. Cook until golden, about 20 minutes longer. Stir occasionally. Makes 2/3 cup.
