Chili Con Macaroni

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped onions
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 pound lean ground beef
2 to 3 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Pinch red pepper
5 ounce can tomato paste
3 cups beef broth
19 ounce can red kidney beans
1 1/2 cups macaroni

Preparation Instructions:

Saute onions and garlic in oil until tender. Add ground beef and brown. Drain off excess fat. Stir in seasonings and tomato paste. Add broth. Bring to a boil. Cover halfway and simmer for 45 minutes stirring occasionally. Add drained beans and cook 15 minutes longer. Meanwhile, cook macaroni according to directions. Drain and add to chili. Heat well before serving. About 5 servings.

About 455 calories per 1 3/4 cup serving.
