2 medium oranges
1 cup light sour cream
2 tablespoons brown sugar
6 eggs, well beaten
1/4 cup milk
1/3 cup orange flavoured liqueur
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
8 thick slices French bread
Preparation Instructions:
Finely grate the rind of one orange. Prepare topping by combining sour cream, brown sugar and half the grated orange rind; refrigerate until needed. Squeeze oranges to yield 2/3 cup juice. In a large dish, combine eggs, orange juice, milk, liqueur, granulated sugar, vanilla and remaining orange rind. Dip each slice of bread in egg mixture, turning to coat both sides. Cook on both sides in a large lightly greased skillet at medium high heat. Place cooked slices in a baking dish and keep warm in oven while preparing remaining French toast. To serve, spoon topping over French toast. Makes 4 servings.
