Barbecued Bean Soup

1 pound great northern beans
1 medium onion, chopped
2 pounds lean beef short ribs
2 teaspoons salt
1/8 teaspoon coarse ground pepper
6 cups water
3/4 cup barbecue sauce

Preparation Instructions:

Completely soften beans. Place all ingredients in crock pot except barbecue sauce. Cover and cook on Low 10 to 16 hours. Before serving, remove ribs; cut meat from bone. Return to crock pot. Stir in barbecue sauce.
