Pasta with Carbonara Sauce

AmountIngredient
1egg
1 tablespoonwhipping cream, light cream, or milk
1 tablespoonmargarine or butter
4 slicesbacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
4 ouncespackaged fettuccine or spaghetti
1/4 cupgrated Parmesan or Romano cheese
1 tablespoonsnipped parsley

Preparation Tips:

Let egg, cream or milk, and margarine or butter stand at room temperature for 1 hour. Cook bacon till crisp. Drain bacon on paper towels.

Meanwhile, cook pasta. Drain well. Return pasta to saucepan and place over low heat. Toss margarine with pasta. Beat together egg and cream just till combined. Pour egg mixture over pasta; toss till well coated. Add bacon, cheese, and parsley; toss to mix. Season with coarsely ground pepper. Transfer to a warm serving dish. Serve immediately. Serves 3 or 4.
