"Sweet Mixed Pickles"

Serving Size: Makes about 5 pints

AmountIngredient
1 quartcucumbers, cut in 1/2 inch slices
1medium head cauliflower, cut into flowerets
2 1/2 cupstiny onions (or larger onions cut in pieces)
1green pepper, cut in small pieces (optional)
1sweet red pepper, cut in small pieces (optional)
4 cupswhite or cider vinegar
2 cupsgranulated sugar
1/2 cupcorn syrup
1 tablespoonmustard seed
1 tablespooncelery seed
1 teaspoonwhole cloves
1/2 teaspoonturmeric
2 tablespoonscoarse pickling salt

Preparation Instructions:

Combine vinegar, sugar, syrup, spices and salt. Heat to boiling. Add all the vegetables. Return to boil and boil gently for 2 minutes. Pack in hot sterilized jars. Seal. Makes about 5 pints.
