3 cupswater
1/2 cuphoney
1/4 cupgranulated sugar
2 tablespoonsport
1 tablespoonbutter
1cinnamon stick
3 tablespoonsraisins
3 tablespoonswalnuts
3 tablespoonspinenuts
1/2 loafcrusty Italian bread, preferably a couple of days old
1egg yolk
ground cinnamon
lemon peel

Preparation Tips:

1. Remove peel from lemon in a wide strip. Put peel in a large saucepan along with water, honey, sugar, port, butter and cinnamon stick. Cover and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Add raisins and nuts. Continue to simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, cut crusts from bread and discard. Cut remaining bread into large chunks and process in a food processor until bread forms fine crumbs (you should have about 2 1/2 cups). Remove lemon peel from pot. Stir in bread crumbs. Continue to simmer, covered, stirring frequently for 5 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat.

3. Put egg yolk in a measuring cup. Stir about 1/2 cup hot bread mixture into egg yolk. Then stir egg yolk mixture into hot bread mixture. Pour dessert on individual dessert plates and garnish with cinnamon and lemon peel. Serve warm.
