Winter Chili Sauce

AmountIngredient
3 (28 ounce size) canswhole tomatoes
3medium onions, peeled and chopped
1 cupchopped celery
6medium apples, pulped and chopped
3/4 cupHeinz Cider Vinegar
3/4 cupgranulated sugar
1 tablespoonsalt
3 tablespoonspickling spice
2 tablespoonsred and green dried peppers

Preparation Tips:

Combine the first seven ingredients in a large pot or Dutch oven. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat to simmer and add pickling spice and peppers tied together in cheesecloth bag. Allow to simmer for 3 or 4 hours, stirring occasionally until mixture thickens. Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal. Yield: About 3 pints.
