"Fraser Canyon Bannock"

Serving Size: Makes 1 bannock

AmountIngredient
1 cupall purpose flour
1 cupwhole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoonsalt
1 tablespoonbaking powder
2 tablespoonsbrown sugar
2 tablespoonslard
2/3 cup (approx.)water

Preparation Instructions:

Mix together dry ingredients; cut in lard with a pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Sprinkle water over pastry, a little at a time, stirring with a fork until mixture forms a soft dough. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured board. Knead about 10 times. Roll out to a 1/2 inch thick circle; place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes until golden. Cut into wedges; serve hot with butter. Makes 1 bannock.
