AmountIngredient
1 1/2 cupsall purpose flour
1/2 cupwhole wheat flour
1/2 cupshredded low fat cheddar cheese plus 1 tbsp for sprinkling
1 tablespoon eachchopped fresh chives and parsley
2 teaspoonsbaking powder
1/2 teaspoonsalt
1/4 teaspoonbaking soda
1 cupplain nonfat yogurt or 3/4 cup buttermilk

Preparation Instructions:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together the all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup cheese, herbs, baking powder, salt and baking soda.

Add the yogurt to the bowl and mix with a fork until the mixture holds together and forms a soft dough that leaves the sides of the bowl.

On a lightly floured work surface, knead the dough 4 to 6 times. Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Flour a 2 inch round cutter and cut out biscuits from the dough, using a firm downward action, without twisting the cutter.

Sprinkle the biscuits with remaining cheese and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Makes 20 biscuits.
