Oven-Baked French Toast

AmountIngredient
1 loafFrench breat (about 1 by 3 inches)
4large eggs
1/2 cuphalf and half cream
1/4 cuphoney
1/2 teaspoonground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoonvanilla extract
 Fresh strawberries (optional)
 Warm pancake syrup (optional)

Preparation Tips:

1. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. Grease two large baking sheets. Cut French loaf crosswise into 1-inch diagonal slices. In a 13- by 9-inch baking dish, place the bread slices.
2. In a medium-size bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, honey, nutmeg, and vanilla. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and turn the slices to coat evenly. Let the bread soak until the egg mixture is absorbed, about 15 minutes.
3. Place the bread on the prepared baking sheets. Bake until golden, 8 to 10 minutes on each side. Transfer to serving dishes. Top each serving with strawberries and syrup, if desired, and serve.
