Chinese Stew

AmountIngredient
1 1/2 poundsbeef stew meat, cut in 1 inch cubes
2 tablespoonscornstarch
1/4 teaspoonground ginger
1/8 teaspoonpepper
1 tablespoonscooking oil
2 cupswater
1 10 1/2 oz. cancondensed golden mushroom soup
1small onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoonssoy sauce
1 small head Chinese cabbage, cut in 1 inch cubes (4 cups)
1 8 oz. can bamboo shoots, drained

Preparation Tips:

Coat meat with cornstarch; sprinkle with ginger and pepper. In large skillet brown the meat in hot oil. Combine water, soup, onion and soy sauce. Add to meat. Cover and simmer till tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Add cabbage and bamboo shoots; cover and simmer 5 to 8 minutes more. Serves 6.
