Grilled Shiitake Mushrooms

AmountIngredient
1/4 cuppeanut or vegetable oil
1 teaspoonsesame oil, optional
2 teaspoonsgrated fresh ginger
1 large clovegarlic, minced
8 ouncesmoney's shiitake mushrooms
 Finely chopped green onions, for garnish
 Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish

Preparation Tips:

1. In small bowl, combine oils, ginger and garlic. Let stand at least 30 minutes.
2. Trim woody portions of mushroom stems and discard. Cut any large mushrooms into quarters. On skewers, thread mushrooms. Generously brush with oil mixture.
3. Place skewers on grill 6 inches above glowing coals. Grill 5 minutes or until mushrooms are tender, turning often and brushing with oil mixture.
4. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Makes 4 servings.
To broil: Prepare kabobs as in steps 1 and 2. Place skewers on rack in broiler pan. Broil 6 inches from heat 5 minutes or until mushrooms are tender, turning often and brushing with oil mixture.
