Grissini Bread Sticks

AmountIngredient
2 packagesactive dry yeast
1 1/2 cupswarm water (105 to 115 degrees)
1/4 cupoil
3 to 3 1/2 cupsall-purpose flour
Dashsalt
1egg white, beaten
 Sesame or poppy seeds

Preparation Tips:

1. Dissolve yeast in a large bowl in warm water.
2. Add oil. Stir in 1 cup flour and mix well. Add salt.
3. Add remaining flour, a little at a time, kneading all the time until dough is spongy.
4. Knead a few minutes on a lightly floured surface until dough is satiny. Place dough in bowl. Cover.
5. Let rise for 15 minutes.
6. Place dough on floured surface again. Knead until smooth. Cut dough into 2 inch pieces.
7. Roll dough out into long bread sticks, using the fingers and palms of your hand. Brush with egg white.
8. Roll in seeds. Place on baking sheets. Let rise for 20 minutes.
9. Bake at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes. Makes about 24 bread sticks.
