Barbecued Lamb Shank Dinner

AmountIngredient
1/4 cupGold Medal flour
1 teaspoonsalt
1/4 teaspoonpepper
4lamb shanks
2 tablespoonsshortening
1/4 cupwater
4medium potatoes, pared and sliced 1/2 inch thick
 Salt
16 ounce canwhole green beans, drained
Barbecue Sauce: 
1/2 cupcatsup
2 tablespoonsbrown sugar
2 tablespoonsWorcestershire sauce
1 tablespoonvinegar
Dashred pepper sauce
1 clovegarlic, minced
1/4 teaspoondry mustard
1/4 teaspoonsalt

Preparation Instructions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare Barbecue Sauce. Mix flour, 1 teaspoon salt and the pepper; coat meat with flour mixture. Melt shortening in Dutch oven; brown meat. Drain off fat. Brush meat with Barbecue Sauce. Pour water into pan. Cover; bake 1 hour.

Brush meat again with Barbecue Sauce. Add potatoes and season with salt. Cover; bake 1 hour longer. Brush remaining Barbecue Sauce on meat. Add beans; bake uncovered 30 minutes. 4 servings.

Barbecue Sauce: Combine ingredients in saucepan; heat over low heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Also delicious on hamburgers, chicken and family steaks.
