Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cake

AmountIngredient
3/4 cupbutter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 cupsgranulated sugar
1/2 cupbrown sugar
1 teaspoonvanilla
2eggs
2 1/2 cupsall-purpose flour
1 teaspoonbaking powder
1 teaspoonbaking soda
1 1/2 teaspoonscinnamon
1 cupchocolate chips
1 1/2 cupscanned pumpkin puree
2 squaresunsweetened chocolate, melted
1 tablespoonunsalted butter or margarine
1/2 cupfinely chopped walnuts, optional

Preparation Instructions:

1. Beat butter, sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time.

2. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon. Remove 1/2 cup flour mixture. Mix with chocolate chips. Set aside.

3. Stir pumpkin puree into butter mixture. Stir in flour mixture. finally, fold in chocolate chip mixture.

4. Into half of batter, stir melted chocolate.

5. Butter a tube or Bundt cake pan. Sprinkle with walnuts, if used.

6. Spoon chocolate batter into pan. Top with pumpkin batter. Smooth top. Sprinkle with some extra nuts.

7. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes until cake tests done.

8. Cool on a rack before turning out onto plate.
