Spicy Pork Ribs with Beans

    1 1/2 to 2 pounds country-style pork ribs

  3 large onions

  2 cups chicken broth

  14 1/2 ounce can whole tomatoes with juice

  2 cloves garlic

  1 tablespoon dried oregano leaves

  1 teaspoon salt or to taste

  1 to 4 teaspoons chili powder or to taste

  16 ounce can pinto beans or 2 cups homecooked pinto beans

  1 ripe avocado

  2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
