  1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

  1 teaspoon lemon peel

  2 tablespoons lemon juice

  3/4 cup toasted sliced almonds

  3 cups all-purpose flour

  4 teaspoons baking powder

  1 teaspoon salt

  1/2 cup shortening

  2 eggs

  2/3 cup milk

  1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
