  2 medium onions

  1/4 cup (50 ml) coarse pickling salt

  2 cups (500 ml) Heinz white vinegar

  1 cup (250 ml) granulated sugar

  2 teaspoons (10 ml) mustard seed

  1 teaspoon (5 ml) celery seed

  1 teaspoon (5 ml) turmeric
