1/4 pound salt pork or bacon 1 large onion 2 carrots 3 stalks celery 1 tablespoon parsley flakes 1 pound 12 ounce can tomatoes 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 2 or 3 cans ( about 7 or 8 ounces each) clams with liquid 2 whole peppercorns 1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme 3 medium potatoes
