  1/3 cup sugar

  1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

  1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  16 ounce can (2 cups) pumpkin

  2/3 cup milk

  5 1/3 ounce can (2/3 cup) evaporated milk

  1/2 cup semisweet chocolate pieces

  1 tablespoon shortening

  1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
